Les inondations affectent non seulement la santé physique, mais également la santé psychologique et sociale des communautés affectées. Les impacts psychosociaux des inondations et d’autres événements météorologiques extrêmes pourraient malheureusement s’accentuer en contexte de changements climatiques.
Dans le cadre de cette présentation, les impacts psychosociaux des inondations seront illustrés à l’aide des données d’une large enquête populationnelle menée dans six régions du Québec un an et deux ans suivant les inondations printanières de 2019. L’influence de différents stresseurs primaires et secondaires sur la santé psychologique des personnes sinistrées de ces inondations sera également examinée. Enfin, un échange aura lieu concernant les mesures concrètes permettant de réduire ce type d'impacts et de promouvoir le bien-être des communautés affectées par une inondation ou par un autre type d’événement météorologique extrême.
Floods not only affect the physical health, but also the psychological and social health of the affected communities. The psychosocial impacts of floods and other extreme weather events could unfortunately increase in the context of climate change.
As part of this presentation, the psychosocial impacts of flooding will be illustrated using data from a large population survey conducted in six regions of Quebec one year and two years following the spring floods of 2019. The influence of different stressors primary and secondary on the psychological health of people affected by these floods will also be examined. Finally, an exchange will take place regarding concrete measures to reduce this type of impact and promote the well-being of communities affected by a flood or another type of extreme weather event.
