Dipsticks in long-term care residents are positive over 80% of the time, even in the absence of acute urinary infection. Yet such results often prompt unnecessary urine cultures, antibiotics, or both, leading to increased risks including antibiotic resistance.
During this year’s antimicrobial awareness week, join us for Choosing Wisely Talks on November 22 at 12 p.m. ET for a discussion on moving beyond the use of urine dipsticks in LTC settings. Expert speakers will address barriers to change and share practical solutions to address this overuse problem.
