Canadian Municipal Network on Crime Prevention 2023 Conference: Community Safety. Together - Igniting Change

CMNCP’s 2023 conference aims to support urban and rural municipalities, Indigenous communities, agencies, groups, and individuals in their efforts to increase collaborative approaches to community safety and well-being in the communities and neighbourhoods in which they work, live, learn, or play.

Join community safety practitioners, people with lived/living experience, service providers, elected officials, and other stakeholders from across the country in-person where you will:

  • Hear insightful presentations on community safety related topics, with a focus on collaborative practices.
  • Network with practitioners, elected officials, people with lived/living experience, researchers, and key community partners.
  • Exchange and share knowledge that can help strengthen your community’s safety.

The 2023 Conference will address several themes, including (but not limited to):

  • Evaluating collaborative efforts in crime prevention and community safety
  • Recognizing the importance of community organizations in creating safer communities
  • Exploring the intersectionality of work between government officials and communities
  • Identifying the challenges and rewards of collaboration in community safety initiatives
  • Understanding collective impact and its role in crime prevention
  • Exploring crime prevention through environmental design strategies
  • Showcasing successful integrated multi-sectoral partnership models

We strive to create an inclusive and accessible conference environment, and we are pleased to inform you that the venue and conference hall are connected for your convenience. Additionally, a quiet and safe space will be provided for prayer and other personal needs. Gender-neutral bathrooms will also be available. As of October 12, 2023, we did not have a request for French translation services and are thus cancelling that option.

T ICKET PRICING (plus applicable taxes)

  • C MNCP Members: $495 per ticket
  • Non-Members: $600 per ticket (a $50 discount will be offered on the first 50 tickets purchased).
  • P eople with Lived/Living Experience: $325 per ticket
  • S tudents: $325 per ticket (student ID will be requested)
  • C onference Speakers: $325 per ticket

Please note that the cost breakdown for each ticket category is for the entire conference duration and includes access to all sessions and networking events. Breakfast, lunch, and nutrition breaks will be provided for attendees.

We encourage you to make your reservation early, as availability within the room block is limited.

MONITORING & EVALUATION T RAINING

We are delighted to offer a one-day specialized training on monitoring and evaluation on Monday, October 23rd, prior to the start of the conference. The training is offered at a discounted rate for those who purchase conference tickets. The training add-on option will be available at checkout.

The interactive, hands-on training will be delivered by experts in the field of crime prevention and community safety. It is designed to support practitioners in monitoring and evaluating programs related to community safety and well-being, crime prevention, as well as gun and gang violence prevention.

Topics addressed in the training session include:

  • Foundations of evaluation
  • Evaluation objectives and roles
  • Evaluation questions
  • Evaluation indicators
  • Evaluation design
  • Data collection
  • Communicating evaluation findings

Upon completion of the training, participants will be well-equipped to develop, support, implement, and participate in evaluations related to community safety, crime prevention, and gun and gang prevention programs.
