eCOVID19 RecMap & Gateway to Contextualization: Finding and Using Evidence on COVID-19 in Public Health

  • 20 Oct 2022
  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
  • Webinar

The COVID19 living catalogue of guidelines (e-COVID RecMap) has collected best available recommendations on COVID-19 for clinical, public health and health policy for the past two years. It allows decision-makers to identify relevant recommendations for their question of interest using the broadly accepted population, interventions, comparators and outcomes (PICO) to map and categorize questions and recommendations. All globally published recommendations on COVID-19 through systematic reviews and from key organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), are incorporated. In this presentation we will introduce this resource and share relevant implications for public health practice in Ontario.

Intended audience: Public health practitioners in Ontario including: Medical Officers of Health, Public Health Nurses, Public Health Inspectors, IPAC Practitioners, and Policy-makers.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to

  • Describe the role of guideline development in the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Provide public health practitioners and other stakeholders with an introduction to the international e-COVID RecMap project that presents easy-to-navigate trustworthy COVID-19 recommendations.
  • Identify COVID-19 recommendations that are critically appraised and available for contextualization and implementation.
  • Identify ways that the RecMap could be further used by public health locally, including introducing strategies that Peterborough Public Health will be using to present Plain Language Recommendations in public communication on COVID-19 evidence.
