CATIE: COVID-19 vaccine access for communities affected by HIV and hepatitis C

  • 29 Jun 2021
  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
  • Webinar

Like HIV and hepatitis C, the COVID-19 pandemic has magnified and exacerbated long-embedded racial and socioeconomic inequities. Communities who experience these inequities are a priority for COVID-19 vaccination programs, but important factors may limit vaccine uptake. As we move forward in the roll-out of vaccines, we must ensure that our communities are not left behind with the full vaccination schedule and related services.

This webinar will explore systemic- and community-level issues related to COVID-19 vaccine uptake among some communities disproportionately affected by HIV or hepatitis C who are also at greater risk for COVID-19. Experts will share their insights related to supporting these communities to gain access to and feel confident about COVID-19 vaccines, as well as the role of frontline HIV and hepatitis C service providers in supporting this effort.

Speakers:
  • Ky’okusinga Kirunga, African and Caribbean Council on HIV/AIDS in Ontario
  • Patrick McDougall, Dr. Peter Centre
  • Harlan Pruden (Nehiyô/First Nations Cree), Chee Mamuk, B.C. Centre for Disease Control
  • Bernadette Lettner, South Riverdale Community Health Centre
English-French simultaneous interpretation will be offered during this webinar.
